I think zarc was based in marik
Look the similarities
Both fuse with their dragons
Something happen to their face in the final duel
The eye thing
And both were beaten by a magic card (cards in zarc’s case) that involved monsters in the graveyard

Did Zarc have a weaker half that actually forfeited the duel for him? Because that is how Marik actually lost.

Ishizu looked at him curiously, and then followed his gaze back to where Seto was leaning over the table, wearing a loose white linen shirt and beige pants. Misunderstanding his shock, Ishizu touched his arm lightly. “Seto won’t hurt you, Marik.”
Marik cleared his throat, looking away uncomfortably. “Uh. Right.”
“Odion?”
“Yes, Lord Marik?”
Marik continued staring at Seto’s back. “… Was Kaiba always this hot?”
