Everyone wants Bakura to have a redemption arc but really they mean thief king not Bakura.
They all forget that the spirit of the ring is actually Zorc. Thief king was someone else that Zorc tricked. He even admits to being Zorc and turns thief king into sand.
Bakura is not thief king.

Whenever people try to take his throne, the spirit takes over and kindly talks them out of it because he doesn’t like fighting and violence.

The spirit’s cheerful nature makes everyone happy and before Atem knows it, word spreads and everyone wants to meet him even people from other countries who originally wanted nothing to do with him. They all enjoy a nice meal and play games together. The high priests are all surprised but happy with the development of relationships with new nations.
The Thief King still manages to steal the Ring, but as soon as he puts it on to attack everyone- he blacks out. He wakes up in bed the next day and realizes that all his cuts and bruises were mysteriously bandaged while he was unconscious.
Enjoying this this far but am concerned for priest Seth. Does he end up having two spirits fighting for control?
One seemingly cunning and manipulative personality shift and at times just the one more murderious side that is far more straightforward with his intentions?
What especially kills me is how Kaiba looks around at the end there like he forgot where he was for a second and he’s expecting to see Mokuba still standing next to him. ;-;

And that story ends in light.
This is uplifting and all but I still feel sad over it because Marik and Bakura never got their happy ending but I guess that’s what I get for loving the villains.
