Kind of feel bad for pestering but I am a curious creature and I deeply love Marik (Yami Malik/the evil side) and I am doubtful you have any or had any thoughts about him with Siegfried but… What would you think that would be like? I’m not sure if you are anything like me where you can ship your fav with any and everyone or not. So yeah…. Thoughts? *has several but that isn’t important right now*

But I’m being honest: I
never thought about shipping Siegfried with Yami Marik (I prefer to call him Marik instead of ‘Malik’, simply because in the German dub he was also called Marik and I’m just used to it). I’m a
multishipper, but I don’t ship everyone with everything. However I
have to admit, there are a lot of YGO ships with lack of references
and pairings which have no relationship or connections at all. And
some of these could actually work.

First off you should know: I don’t ship Yami
Marik romantically or platonically with anyone of the YGO cast (because for me he’s just an evil
entity with no morality), it makes me hard to imagine him interacting
with Siegfried or even having a bromance/romance with him. If they
would have the chance to meet each other, Siegfried would probably
laugh at him in amusement because of his hair and weird expressions.

I’m sure if they would
have a relationship, it would be a very destructive one and full of conflicts. Since both
Yami Marik and Siegfried have the desire for control and domination,
one of them would always be the one to submit. Yami Marik has a lot
of fun hurting others and physical violence as well as mental torture
would probably kill Siegfrieds already unstable sanity. So, a
relationship based on oppression and torment might be very very
unhealthy. For both of them, but mostly for Siegfried.

I have looked many corners of the web for some time and there is no shipping name for these two.

This makes sense though. I however like to play Marik typically in post Battle City where he escapes death in one form or another and take it from there- that or it is a total AU or some kind.
I actually played him dating Siegfried before in what was a Dangershipping (Seto x Marik) rp but it was strange and fun though Marik only initially tried for Siegfried because he was awestruck by how pretty he was when he first saw him at a company after party.
Siegfried though was not really interested till he saw that Seto actually was watching Marik all too closely and acting a tad particular so he decided to introduce himself and snag him because he knew it would mess with Seto and since his company image was already a bit rocky he knew he ran the chance of making it a bit worse but if it screwed with Seto’s head than it was worth it.

Gah… No one wants to read that. I am sorry, I just ship Marik with anyone because I see him as having a lot of potential and from a different light since to me Malik was the more cruel one albeit accidentally since he shoved all his pain, sorrow, and rage into making someone else take it all for him and that was all he knew so he never got to struggle with it since everyone and their sister was just flat out trying to murder him and forgave Malik for all his bullcrap.

So… does Mariku hang off by himself during school lunches or does he end up sucking Bakura into being a lose pal with him only to later feel like he was used so Bakura could get closer to Malik or? *curious on your headcanons*

As much as I want Bakura and Mariku to be  “close” pals, I’ve always thought of Bakura wanting to be pals with Mariku to get closer to Marik since the latter is obviously popular and Bakura is secretly(?) one of Marik’s fanboys.

I dunno if I’m doing Mariku right, haha, but I’ve always headcanon Mariku in this AU as the black sheep of the Ishtar family. He is usually forgotten/being pushed in the back and is seen as a constant disappointment because he is “different” (he doesn’t fit in with his family) therefore resulting in his very independent and misanthropic personality so he’s usually seen alone and is avoided by well, the whole class because of his attitude and Marik just outshining him in a lot of things. Basically, he’s that one person in class that everyone hates, lol.

I really love his concept/headcanon for this AU. It fits really well and just love Mariku to pieces.

So I am guessing Ryou is still going to have his own little flock of fans like in the manga/Season Zero. Bakura might even have a few… That aside, I am mainly focused on this adorable little bastard. Because he is the greatest character I have ever seen and I love him with all my heart and he’ll always be my absolute fav out of anything.

I was thinking of this when at work and it made me think of how cruel kids are in school so I had this weird headcanon that Mariku would be the topic of rumors. Stupid ones that you know can’t be true and yet EVERYONE seems to believe them and treat ya different. So I was thinking they’d say he was part demon and just over all spread awful shit but the one that would stick over the years was this: Mariku was born without tear ducts. 
My reasoning for this is that no matter how many times he would get hurt in PE or do anything that would make most people cry, he would just wince and then laugh it off. That also came him being punished a lot at home by his father who would say things like “Why are you crying? I’ll give you something to cry about!” as he’d belt him and Mariku thus learned to not show his real emotions in front of people.

And then I pictured him and Malik at a birthday/slumber party deal where Malik was invited but not allowed to go unless Mariku could go as well so he was just reluctantly invited. No one talked to him much, no one wanted him there, everyone was crowed around Malik. 
So at night when everyone was asleep, Mariku just went into the host’s bathroom and was having trouble holding it all in and just cracks. Silent crying and hating that everyone loaths him no matter what he does. He tries to get perfect grades but it just doesn’t matter because Malik is perfect. Malik is wonderful. Everyone just loves him and he doesn’t seem to have to try at all and it sickens him because even if he tries his best, he will never feel or get the positive attention he wants. So he just settles for the negative because… Well, it’s attention. They want a monster? He’ll be a monster… After all, that is the one thing Malik can’t be.

I also then pictured Ryou having to pee and sleepily wondering in without knocking and spooking Mariku who has to wipe away his tears and act like it never happened but by then it’s too late. Ryou say it but he doesn’t say anything right away.

Very rough thumbnail of Mariku at the AU which spiraled into a very short comic strip (again!). Its based on @iamterra’s headcanon of Mariku going into art school instead of following Ishtar tradition of entering law and med school. Makes sense, the guy is extremely rebellious lol. 

 I don’t really know if I’m gonna finish it and other stuff/requests early since I won’t have any access to my graphics tablet ‘til the day after tomorrow due to loads of homework, I sincerely apologize for the letdown. ( ；´Д｀)

Marik looks like he is internally screaming as he holds up the weight of everyone else yet keeps on a smile because these are his now.
Bakura though is breaking under the pressure.
Malik is being carried like a king so all is well on his end.
Ryou… Well, I think he’s just realizing where he is and wondering how he got up there.

They are so precious~ Kind of want to hold Marik’s cape to make sure he doesn’t somehow trip over it and drop everyone. XD

Okay. I’ve had this thought come to me several times so I want to share it with the fandom just to see the reaction on this idea.

What if Marik (Yami Malik) was actually the good side of Malik?

“But Terra, that’s not right! You called him Yami Malik just a second ago! And-”

Hear me out. 

Malik

  • Has killed many people
  • Lied countless times
  • Tortured his Rare Hunters for failing him
  • Stolen rare/priceless items
  • Left out key bits of information out in an attempt to dupe his allies
  • Kidnapped people
  • Saw himself as faultless 
  • Blamed anyone he could for his own wrongs
  • Was a contributor to the Black Market
  • Threatened his sister if she tried stopping him again
  • Mind controlled dozens of people
  • Cheated his way to the finals in Battle City
  • Contracted Bakura into trying to destroy his body because if he couldn’t have it no one could so… Attempted assisted suicide  

Marik

  • Killed one known person
  • Tortured those who dueled him but allowed punishment to be returned, keeping it fair
  • Did attempt to kill the rest of his family
  • Refuses to give up control over the body he inhabits
  • Only plays high stake games where the loser will most likely die
  • Was actively willing to kill anyone who got in his way of revenge

That’s about it…  I’m sure there is more but honestly… Malik’s negative qualities are greater than Marik’s from what I have seen over the years.
Marik is polite and greets people cheerily. Sure, he plays hard but all of his games have always been fair. He goes in knowing he can die but he believes in himself so much that he doesn’t see himself as able to lose. He is the embodiment of overkill and thus is one tough cookie to beat.

Malik though, the supposed weak/lighter half, lied at every turn and cheated in every single duel he was ever part of and everyone who wasn’t him that lost was always punished for failing him.

Yes, he shows change in the very end but up until that very tipping point… He was clearly the dark/evil half.
