i’ve had enough of this obsession with ‘what if this terrible thing in history was even worse’ storytelling that keeps popping up. i’m sick of giving nazis any screen time ever no matter what.
do you understand the dread, terror and anger that surges through the body of a jewish person (or romani but i dont want to speak for a group of people im apart of) whenever they see a swastika? do you understand that it’s not just a historical symbol or a backwards buddhist one? it’s a symbol of hatred and evil. it gets spraypainted on our synagogues and tombstones. it gets carved on our doors (i dont have a link to this because it literally happened to my friend and their facebook is private). it gets shoved down our throat and is a constant reminder that we are not safe, that we are hated, and that ‘never forget’ just means ‘give it time’.
i dont want to see a fucking image of route 66 with swastika flags. i dont want to see supergirl be a nazi. i dont want to see captain america be a hydra agent. you know why? because i’m sick of characters that stand for justice and goodness being aligned with an evil, elitist philosophy. i’m sick of the underhandedness of it all, of introducing nazis back into the mainstream, this time as the heroes of our stories. nazis are not heroes. nazis tortured my grandparents and murdered a majority of my extended family.
but mostly, i’m so fucking sick of these edgelord asshole fanboys taking characters created by jews and influenced by jews and them being turned into nazi symbols. kara zor-el is essentially a jewish character (if kal-el is synonymous with moses then i’d argue that kara is the miriam of the story). joe kirby had steve rogers punch hitler in the face for a goddamn fucking reason.
in conclusion: i am tired of seeing swastikas everywhere. i am sick of gross goyim using jewish and jewish-coded characters for their own twisted stories. i am sick of you giving nazis a voice. you need to fucking stop.
